This community-led project lays an important foundation toward reforesting the reservoir area and reconnecting the bond between people and the water. Together with the Khok Salung community, we replaced the existing hard, dry landscape edge with a softer, more diverse natural landscape that brings back native plants and supports local food security. Living in the area’s extremely hot climate, the building itself hybridizes the local wisdom of a traditional grass thatch roof with a durable steel structure. This combination provides deep shade, a cross ventilation, stack-ventilation effect, and a highly flexible open space for various community activities, serving as both a functional community hub and a starting point for restoring the local ecosystem.
