Chaiyaphum silk has been a valuable resource generating incomes for locals for generations. Wearing silk or using silk in the community is a common way of people's livelihood. However, local organic silk production is also challenged by the mass silk production with chemical color. The Silk Museum & Community Center is proposed at the front gate of the silk community to promote and celebrate the silk legacy and its handmade aesthetic values. The exhibition illustrates the larger picture of the silk ecosystem, from local mulberry farming practice to handmade sericulture to silk weaving process. Learning from a special silk collection, the project aims to educate the community to find alternative ways to generate income by producing high quality silk products.
