Dog rescue center and tiny cabins are two projects which sustain each other to help stray dog issues in Thailand. Working with the private sector to set up the holistic design and develop a coexist business model is the foundation of this symbiosis project. The tiny cabins, as a small hotel with landscape regeneration for wildlife habitat is the starting point to pave the way for this coexist environment economically and environmentally. Architectural small modules with a dry-process structure are designed to be flexible and efficient to assemble and reassemble through all stages of the master plan strategy. Elevated from the landscape patch, combining the galvanized metal siding, straightforward steel structure, all sit lighty together on the minimum concrete foundation. The site planning is designed to respect the existing flow, natural runoff and ventilation, resulting in creating a small village that touches the Earth lightly. Water retention pond, rain garden and other stormwater management strategies are proposed as a nature-based solution in response to heavy rain of the tropical climate conditions. Local vegetation, which can be found surrounding the project, are welcomed to the project as an open space for people and natural habitat for animals. As a result, eco-tourism with the cultural and recreational programs, such as dancing, music performances, water sports and other outdoor activities are carefully planned to generate income for maintaining dog rescue shelters in the long run.
